November 9th, 2008 Daddy and Mommy planned a special service for me at our church. It was my dedication day. It was a very special day. Many of our family and friends were there to support us. We even had a little party at our house afterward. The service was really nice. Our pastor read some scripture and prayed for us, my mommy read a poem that she wrote, and my daddy said a few words too. He even had some tears in his eyes. I don't understand why just yet, but one day I probably will. It was a wonderful day.
For This Child We Prayed…
On our wedding day, it was the pastor who had prayed.
He asked that You would bless us with this child someday.
We know that she’s a gift sent from Your hand dear Lord.
Scripture also says she’s a heritage and reward.
For this reward we’re grateful yet at the same time humbled;
That You have chosen us to love Your little angel.
We’re here today to recognize that she’s ours because You gave her.
We’re asking for Your wisdom in the ways we are to raise her.
With each day’s beginning, Your word will be our guide.
And our prayer will always be that in her heart it will hide.
We are the ones that now bring a smile to her face.
But one day that will change because of Your amazing grace.
Above all else we ask that she falls in love with You.
Even though we think she’s perfect – make her something new.
Use her for Your purpose that only she can fulfill.
And give her a desire to at Your throne daily kneel.
Fill her with Your presence for all the world to see.
Light a fire in her to know that You are all she needs.
For years You’ve been our Shepherd, Healer, and Provider.
Today we ask the same for our precious little daughter.
Thank You for this time to give her life to You.
We’re enjoying her immensely; she’s our sweet Sophie Lu.
All our hopes and dreams, here at Your feet we’ve laid.
You blessed us beyond measure when for this child we prayed.

Today is a very special day in the life of our family. As I look out through the congregation I can’t help but think about all the lives that God has changed. Our prayer is that one day Sophie will walk down the aisle and publicly proclaim that her life has been altered by God’s amazing grace. There is no greater joy than to see a loved one give their life to the Lord.
In our home, we try our best to honor God by allowing prayer and scripture to transform our daily lives. And we also know that this church makes it a priority to teach and preach God’s word. So we come this morning to dedicate our little Sophie Lu to God and ask our Christian brothers and sisters to pray for us in this huge endeavor of raising her in the admonition of the Lord. We ask you to join with us in building on the foundation that we are laying. We love you all very much and thank you for the love you’ve shown to our family.
